Brisbane Study Group

Brisbane Study Group, NSW (Kyoshitsu)

The Matsubayashi-ryu Bathurst Study Group was established in 2025 by Sensei An Do, Nidan (2nd Dan), after relocating from the mid-north coast of New South Wales. An is a direct and long-time student of Kyoshi John Carlyle, training under his guidance for many years. Over the course of his martial arts journey, An has travelled to Okinawa—the birthplace of karate—to deepen his understanding, and has trained with internationally respected instructors, including Sensei Toshimitsu Arakaki during his visits to Australia. The group continues this tradition, providing a place for dedicated students in Bathurst to explore authentic karate in a focused and supportive environment.
