Bathurst Study Group, NSW (Kyoshitsu)

The Matsubayashi-ryu Bathurst Study Group was established in 2025 by Sensei Ryan Blanch, Yondan (4th Dan), after relocating from the mid-north coast of New South Wales. Ryan is a direct and long-time student of Kyoshi John Carlyle, training under his guidance for more than 20 years.

Over the course of his martial arts journey, Ryan has travelled to Okinawa—the birthplace of karate—to deepen his understanding, and has trained with internationally respected instructors, including Sensei Toshimitsu Arakaki during his visits to Australia.

The group continues this tradition, providing a place for dedicated students in Bathurst to explore authentic karate in a focused and supportive environment.
